floods in pakistan

Recent monsoon rains spells have turned Pakistan into a state underwater. These Catastrophic floods in Pakistan have killed more than 1000 thousand people and 30 million displaced.

Thousands of villages are wiped out and millions of people have been displaced and have no access to food and shelter. Rescue operations are carried on in a lot of regions, some areas completely cut off where the rescue teams could not reach because the cutting of roads and water levels remains high.

The economic cost of these damages is huge and it’s a long way off for the government to reconstruct these roads, bridges, agricultural damages etc.

On the other hand, amidst this crisis, political leaders called it a humanitarian disaster, and some religious clerics said to me that it is “Azab e Elahi ’’ ( God Punishment on these People ), Everyone shared their own opinion.

But the real causes of these floods in the global south countries are huge industrial emissions which were released by these G-7 countries’ corporations (the UK, US and others ) contributing to the carbon-led emissions that paved the way for climate crises.

Where third-world countries like Pakistan has paid a huge price for climate change in the shape of super floods and calamities causing even more damage to the nation.

These heavily industrialised super-rich countries are the main contributor to climate crises in the world and in the end they would donate a small part of aid to these affected global south countries to express their so-called quote and quote humanitarian solidarity.
